Stucco or Veneer? The Best Finish for Your Steel Building

One of the biggest inquiries we get from clients who are considering buying steel structures is the "finish" for the exterior. When we imagine a steel structure, it is likely to look dull and gray. But this exactly isn't the case! Metal structures can be found in a range of styles, colors, and decorative finishes like stucco, brick veneer, and faux rock or stone. If you're unsure regarding a metal structure because you are worried it will not be visually appealing, check out the following list and decide which one is the most effective for you. We're confident that a metal structure doesn't need to be boring; it can be attractive and appealing.

STUCCO

Stucco is among the most sought-after facade options offered. It is a great way to enhance the appearance and blend into your surroundings when it is a limiting aspect. Stucco is also an option that will enhance the appearance of your metal structure--attractive and also affordable. There are three options for using stucco on the exterior of your metal building: traditional stucco, stucco panels, and stucco flex.

Traditional stucco looks similar to the style that can be seen on homes for residential use. For this appearance, it is integrated into the metal building plans but often requires a spandrel beam in order to support the wall load on the exterior. If a spandrel beam is required, this will certainly cost more to build, but for certain types of exterior finishes, it could be an important element in selecting the type of building.

Stucco panels may be erected directly on the structure, much similar to traditional siding. The panels provide the appearance of stucco as well as increase insulation. They can be found in a variety of shades.

Stucco flex is the most affordable alternative for stucco for steel structures. It's a spray-on product that is applied to the corrugated siding of the metal as well as foam board. The stucco flex will give an appearance of flat stucco.

BRICK VENEER

Brick veneer can be bonded to the frame using a swivel tie that can be adjusted to transfer the load laterally. In this day and age of farmhouse-style design, the option gives the traditional look of brick to your metal structure without the expense and weight. Brick veneer is water resistant as well as fire-resistant and helps in cooling and heating your structure.

FAUX STONE AND ROCK

Another option found on metal structures and houses is faux rock or stone. It's a simple option to install on almost every surface. The faux stone veneer is an affordable alternative to real rock or stone and can add the same aesthetic appeal to your home. It is available in varieties of styles, colors, and shapes. The faux stone and rock veneers may be used to enhance your building's exterior finishes or used alone to add a unique look to your metal building.
